Schundler Unveils Two New Radio Ads At Opening Of Hudson County Campaign Office Former Jersey City Mayor Vows to Win Support From Democrats and Independents (NORTH BERGEN, AUGUST 8) - Republican Gubernatorial candidate Bret Schundler opened a new campaign headquarters in North Bergen, Hudson County Wednesday afternoon, the same day that two new radio advertisements highlighting his support from Democratic and Independent voters hit the airwaves. “Whether they be Democrats, Independents or Republicans, voters across New Jersey are concerned about the same things -- lower property taxes, better schools, and curbing sprawl,” Schundler said. “It doesn’t matter where they live, or what political party they are registered with, voters want a Governor who will address the problems that affect their lives. I was successful at winning Democratic support in Jersey City because I offered real solutions to the problems that our residents were facing every day. I then delivered on those promises by holding the line on property taxes, improving city services and cutting violent crime dramatically.” Schundler, who was three-times elected Mayor of Jersey City - the long-time Hudson County Democratic stronghold -- opened the new campaign office in North Bergen, a town where Democrats outnumber Republicans five-to-one. “I will not concede any votes to Jim McGreevey,” Schundler said. “We intend to win in every county in New Jersey, including here in Hudson County. When voters have the opportunity to compare my record of lowering taxes and delivering quality public services as Mayor of Jersey City, with Jim McGreevey’s failure to control taxes and deliver services in Woodbridge, the choice will be clear.” The opening of the new campaign office comes on the same day that a new rotation of radio advertisements has begun running in the New York and Philadelphia media markets. These advertisements feature “man on the street” interviews with Democrats and Independents who have supported Bret Schundler. The transcripts of the two new radio advertisements follow.
